One of the causes of cerebral infarction! Let's prevent arteriosclerosis

Hello everyone! !

It is "Kumagai Internal Medicine and Neurology Clinic" near Motomachi Chinatown.

Atherosclerosis is one of the causes of cerebral infarction, which is treated by the Department of Neurology, which our hospital advocates. Therefore, this time I will introduce what you can do to prevent arteriosclerosis.

  • Smoking cessation and exercise are important

Smoking cessation and moderate exercise are important to prevent atherosclerosis.

In particular, smoking reduces the elasticity of the blood vessels. Some data suggest that those who actually smoke more than 20 cigarettes a day have a 50% to 60% higher risk of developing than those who do not.

In addition to smoking, obesity, diabetes, dyslipidemia (hyperlipidemia) and hypertension also increase the risk of arteriosclerosis.

That's why moderate exercise is important.

  • Exercise within a reasonable range

Exercise should be at least 30 minutes a day, centered on aerobic exercise (walking, etc.).

At this time, it is important to exercise within your reasonable range.

In addition, continuous exercise can prevent arteriosclerosis.

  • Early detection of arteriosclerosis by carotid echography

The carotid artery is a blood vessel that sends blood from the heart to the brain. Carotid echocardiography can evaluate the degree of progression of arteriosclerosis and can estimate the risk of cerebral infarction, angina, myocardial infarction, etc.

At our hospital, we also have carotid echocardiography, so please feel free to contact us.
